This is awesome Rostislav! You should make sure to add it to the AIR Apps wiki - http://airapps.pbwiki.com/FrontPage

Ryan, thank you a lot for your appreciation — really nice to get this comment from such a RIA monster! =)

AIR Apps Wiki you pointed me to is great place to land my app, so I’ll do that soon.

I just only want to add one more feature before submitting it - some motion blur for the map and probably implement an easier navigation mode for the user.

Ryan, I have added Google 3D Maps to the AIR Apps wiki. I discovered there was previous version of this app already (called Apollo 3D Test Application — was created during the very Apollo Alpha stage), so I just upgraded corresponding entry at the AIR Apps page to make it refer to this permanent Google 3D Maps home page.

i’d really like to try running this, but when i try to download the .air file, I get a zip file instead which doesn’t allow me in install the application. can you tell me what i’m doing wrong? thanks.

MAT, try downloading it again now (link to the latest version).

I have discovered that in IE, when you actually click the link to the AIR file, server replies with the ZIP instead. I’ve checked it by myself and run in the same trouble as you described.

However, when I tried to download the AIR file with Firefox browser, it all went good. So I recommend you to try downloading the file with Firefox. Sorry, I don’t know where this strange behaviour comes from at this moment. I will fix this ASAP, but now I’m asking you to download it in alternative way by Firefox (very safe and useful browser) or by any other downloading tool, here’s the path to the file: http://flash-ripper.com/tests/air/3d/0.3/Google3DMap.air

PROBLEM SOLVED. I have added the mime-type description to the root of the AIR repository:
AddType application/vnd.adobe.air-application-installer-package+zip .air (as Adobe Docs recommends)
and now it is working just fine in IE too.

Please try to download the Google3DMap.air now.
