Alternativa Game flies into 2008 on steroids

Game named “Alternativa” goes further in development and quality quickly. Anton Volkov and team not just added some features to the project. Guys are really critical about their results and able to make BIG changes in their own 3D game engine. Their recent dynamic BSP-tree implementation is made with aim to optimize 3D scene objects sorting by depth and visibility regarding camera. This is really much more quick than the previous version! BTW, this is version 5.0 of the engine.

Then they implemented normal mapping to get their 3D surfaces curved and their sprites lighted in 3D(!); Their mos recent update at the moment is the parallax effect.

Wish Alternativa Game to become the Game of 2008. And God bless your servers!

Amazing 3D Demo of Alternativa Game

Just look at it: long-awaited 3D game demo of Alternativa (no Papervision3d). With adjustable textures, lighting, smartly used sprites, talking and moving 3d characters, Lightning and more.

Cool 3D Game Demo from Alternativa Game

Check this out: they have a lot of mind-blowing 3D stuff at their blog.

Away3D has a blog

Cute Away 3D engine I wrote about recently got its own blog: away3d.com. A lot of brain-exploding demos.

Trying the new Bee desktop blog editor build on AIR / HTML / Javascript

Bee? is a Desktop blog editor built on? AIR / HTML / Javascript. It integrates WordPress, Flickr and more. Uses a number of JavaScript frameworks: Prototype, script.aculo.us, Spry, TinyMCE, and Walter Zorn’s Tooltips for Javascript.
The best thing about Bee — it is MUCH FASTER than built-in Wordpres editor. And Bee Rich HTML Editor seems to have all the features I missed.
Try it:? Download Bee.air. Source code available, too.
Pressing “Preview”… looks good. Publish!

Google 3D Maps made with Adobe AIR and Papervision 3D

Now I’m thinking about upgrading sources to the fresh release of Papervision3D which has 40% performance growth.

Sources for Apollo 3D Test application

Update: Application is prepared for the latest version of the Adobe AIR.

Download the latest version here: Google 3D Map Adobe AIR Application.

I’ve just published the source files for Apollo 3D Test App, and updated the application a bit: added the option of map smoothing. Surprise, this doesn’t decrease the app performance — check it out: Apollo 3d Test v 2.0 with Google Maps and Papervision 3D.

To run it, you need Apollo Runtime, here’s the screenshot (click it to download / install the app):

BTW, after installing the Apollo Extension for Flex Builder I’ve got a feeling that my FB2 started work faster. Surely, this simple app builds in second or two, while I have Photoshop, Outlook, Dreamweaver, Word, Visio, Firefox, Winamp 5 and LastFM scrobbler opened, plus GoogleTalk, Skype and one Apache process running.

Apollo 3D Test: my first Apollo app (Google Maps, Papervision3D, Flex, Apollo Alpha)

Update: Application is prepared for the latest version of the Adobe AIR.

Download the latest version here: Google 3D Map Adobe AIR Application.

Apollo is free from some limitations of regular Flash Player; for example, with Apollo’s HTML componente you able to load something from the web and to operate with it in any way, without necessity to care about all those annoyuing crossdomain policy files.

For example, you can take Google Maps, place it on the 3D plane or sphere, keeping the interactivity of dragging the map (you needed Apollo Runtime for have this example working):

I’m truly intrigued with Adobe Apollo…

Papervision3d wiki just has opened

Papervision3D now has its own wiki, which is very useful especially for those who just start using PV3D.

You can start, for example, from Papervision3D FAQ and PV3D tutorials.
